The Mission of the Church is to fulfill the Great Commission - helping others become passionate, contagious followers of Jesus Christ. We believe this is best accomplished in the context of the local church. Why? Because that is exactly what Jesus is all about building ... His church! (Matt 16:18)
Through partnerships with like-minded churches and the Haiti Initiative we assist in church planting in the United States and abroad. Missions also includes actively involving our church body in local outreach to Central Illinois area and in short-term trips to assist meeting needs in international churches.

The Mission of Summit Point Church is "to make disciples." The Missions ministry of the church seeks to fulfill that mission via church planting. Thus, the Local Outreach aspect of Summit Point Missions helps Summit Point Church shine the light of Jesus in the local community.
This is accomplished by actively involving our body in the life of the surrounding community with the specific intent of helping felt needs, in order to act as a light to draw others back to the local church. These activities may be decidedly evangelistic, or they may just be compassionate in nature. But they will always allow the church to be a local light and eventually lead to sharing Jesus.
BACKPACKS FOR KIDS - Backpacks for Kids is a great opportunity for our church to directly impact our local community by coming alongside families in need of some assistance getting ready for school the year.
Z7TEN - Caring for the vulnerable in Jesus' name. Z7TEN is the opportunity for us to meet needs in the lives of our church families. We do this by providing basic care items as well as providing crisis response, service opportunities, and donating necessary items.
GIVING TREE - Giving Tree is a great opportunity for Summit Point to love on families during this Christmas season by giving the gift of one clothing item and one toy to around 350 children in the neighboring schools, Young Lives Program, and foster care.
COMPASSION DAY - This is a day for the church body to rally together to serve Him as we serve others. We branch out into the surrounding community serving at local ministries and non-profit organizations spreading the light and love of Jesus Christ to the region.
SNACK PACKS - We are partnering with local schools to provide food on the weekends to over 230 students on the free or reduced lunch plan. This will be ongoing throughout the academic year and is a great way for the church to share the love of Christ into the community's schools. Collection of needed items will be from September 19th through October 3rd. Drop off at the church office during services on Sunday or 8AM - 5PM Monday through Friday.
The Haiti Initiative seeks to partner North American like-minded churches with local Haitian churches and church planters with the goal of seeing expressions of faith established, strengthened, and multiplied in the nation of Haiti, all to God’s glory.

Short-Term trips serve to encourage, support, and to partner with local churches nationally and internationally to reach their local communities for Christ and engage in discipling them. They also serve as a discipleship opportunity for those within our church body to grow in depth and breadth in their faith.
