This year’s ministry challenge has been to live a John 15 life… a life in which we abide, pray, and obey our King. As we draw life from Him, as we are filled with His love, we are then called to love others with all we have. This love cannot be faked, and without it, we will be riddled with hate and fear. Our call is to be filled with love by the God who is love and then let it pour out of us to those around. Let’s love one another!
As we dive into scripture, we can see the nature of our King, character of our King, and actions of our King. Let’s look deep and “See the King”! In this Easter season, let’s see Him in the crucifixion, in the resurrection, and in the creation. So, why do so many choose to make their feelings their King? Let’s look deep.
As we seek to abide, to draw life from Jesus (the vine), we are called to obey. How do we know His commands and calls? How do we know what to obey? We find God’s direction and expectations recorded in His word. The Bible is our guide to knowing the heart of our God and following Him with all we have. So, let’s dig deep into His word, trust as we learn, and obey what He calls us to.
Christmas is a great season gaining rest, reflection, and perspective… a time of worship and celebration of Jesus as our King. This sermon series looks at all Jesus is in His First Coming. We will look at Jesus through the eyes of Mary, Paul, the Shepherds, and Simeon.
We are called to abide in Jesus, to draw life from Him as a branch draws from a vine. But more, as we abide in Him we can have hope in Him through a powerful prayer walk. True faith that is poured out in trusting hope will have the privilege of seeing God move in huge ways. How should we pray? What does faithful prayer look like?
We are called to draw life from our great God. Jesus taught His disciples about this by using a metaphor. As they were passing a vineyard, He taught them of life in Christ. Jesus is the vine. He is the life-giver. We are the branches, dependent on Him… and nothing without Him. This series will teach us to follow Him, to lean on Him, and to draw life from Him.
